Meet Dr. Johnson
Dr. Aaron Johnson is a native Michigander who grew up in Grand Blanc. After graduating from Hope College with majors in Biology and Chemistry, he attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. Following graduation in 2007, Dr. Johnson practiced general dentistry and owned a private practice in New Baltimore, Michigan. Dr. Johnson has completed extensive post-graduate education, including training at the Dawson Academy, which is an institution and curriculum focused on training dentists in comprehensive care, occlusion, and complete restorative treatments. Since 2016, Dr. Johnson has furthered his training with numerous courses in airway-focused dentistry and orthodontics. With two children of his own, Aaron has become an advocate for early-intervention orthodontics (children less than 6 year old), which aims to identify and treat problems from an early age. In 2022, Dr. Johnson had the incredible opportunity to practice dentistry in New Zealand. The New Baltimore practice was sold and he and his family moved halfway around the world for over 3 years! It was an amazing Kiwi experience, yet, they wanted to be back closer to family in Michigan. The Johnson family returned to Michigan and a new opportunity to practice dentistry presented itself. After 40 years of practicing general dentistry, Dr. Thomas P. Warner, D.D.S. (Warner Dental Care) in Rochester Hills was set to retire. After an extensive evaluation process, he selected Dr. Johnson to succeed him and take over the practice. Dr. Johnson worked alongside Dr. Warner for a period of time and transitioned the practice to his own, renaming and rebranding it as “Johnson Dental Care”. Dr. Johnson is a member of the Oakland County Dental Society, Michigan Dental Association, American Dental Association, Academy of Airway & Gnathologic Orthopedics, Early Childhood Health-centered Orthodontics Mentorship, and the American Academy of Physiological Medicine and Dentistry. He has participated in numerous Study Clubs, including a newly formed, airway-focused study club in Metro Detroit. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Johnson’s focus is on his family. He and his wife Mary have been together since 2004. Mary is a brilliant mental health counselor, who received her master’s degree from Eastern Michigan. They have 2 daughters: Fiona, born in 2012 and Alanis, born in 2015. Dr. Johnson enjoys camping, cycling, golfing, community, and travel.
